Andrew Christmas guided Abigail Meyer today on the Tongariro and showed her some good fishing by all accounts – this is Andrews report of the day.
Good Afternoon, have just spent a rewarding day on the Tongariro with Abigail and we both had a great time. Weather ended up being perfect and turned out really hot actually, Abigail was tired pretty quick so I think we only ended up doing 7hrs or so it was her choice to go home on a good note.
Abigail picked up casting fairly well and was able to lay a line worthy of fooling a trout before too long, her enthusiasim was fantastic not just for fishing but just be outdoors and observing the scenery
Abergail caught a nice fresh run hen early on and then got another on the way back vehicle before lunch. We sighted a good number of fish and it was good for her to see trout moving and feeding. We had lunch overlooking the Major Jones pool which was great in the sun and a nice place to observe other fisherman and show her what others do aswell as it being a beautiful spot.
After lunch we went down river on very full stomochs and fished until she thought she had enough. We did get another well conditioned fish down there as well. So in all three fish to the bank with a couple of midstream releases.
Abigail could not believe the size and strength of the trout as she was comparing them to the fingerlings in the USA.
