Met Jeff, Darryn, Gabriel and Victoria all from New South Wales in Australia this morning, ready for there first ever fly fishing experience. The guys and girls were all fast learners – for Ausies – which helped them enjoy a fantastic day out back country today. In total 7 trout were hooked, all of excellent size with Darryn landing the biggest I have had out of this beat – a 7 pound brown on top of a fantatic 5 pound rainbow! Pictured here is Victoria who only fished for 5 minutes today and this was the result!

Went fishing river 3 waterfall beat today with my mate Carl Sawyer. Walked down the track to find the river dirty brown but we fished a couple of pools anyway. We hooked 6 or 7 including this 6 and a 1/4 pound rainbow that I landed and Carl held for the photo. Lost another good one similar or bigger. The main fly was Novaks Big Black Bug.

Guided Chris Skin today who works for the English diplomatic service and is hoping to gain residency here. I guided Chris once last year and hopefully didn’t let him down today by guiding him onto 16 feisty trout of which he landed 6 including this nice 5 pound rainbow trout. Conditions were a little windy to begin with which would have cost us a few fish to begin with. We fished river 4 in my usual beat of late.
