Charlie Allen defines the reason my business is called Anglers Anonymous - like me he needs serious help with his addiction to fishing - that is help to find more fantastic fishing! This was Charlies 3rd guided trip down here over the past month, this time dragging his father Mike down with him. Charlie postponed his trip to Thailand just to go fly fishing one more time! The day was looking a little dodgy to begin with with strong Southerly winds in the morning at the first spot on the Tongariro. Mike started the ball rolling, showing his son how it was done by landed a nice rainbow on one of his first casts, after that Charlie dropped one before things slowed off and we decided to move to another location to get away from the hoards of other fishermen and the strong winds. By the end of the day the wind had eased off and both the guys had had a fantastic day, landing several nice rainbows and Charlie managing on nice brown. In total there were 16 hook and plays and I loss count of how many were landed. Over the past 3 trips Charlie has managed to master double hauling, singled handed double spey, and yesterday cracked the Tongariro Roll Cast, he all seems to have fallen in love my 7 weight Sage Z-axis and I had to watch carefully to make sure it didn’t dissappear to Thailand!
