Poor Evening Rise

Just fished the evening rise on river 11 and had a relatively poor result. Experimented and put an unweighted 12 H & C behind a Royal Wulfe and hooked 2 dinks 1×1 pound rainbow and 1×3 pound brown all on the swinging H & C. The fish were all before dark and the barometer has been dropping with a warm but overcast day. Ross Novak and another guide fishing with me hooked none and were trying different dries, emergers and spiders. Ross had been having a lot of success the previous few evenings catching around a half dozen 4 – 6 pounders each evening with fish rising everywhere. Possibly effected by lack of insect life because of overcast weather or otherwise dropping barometric pressure.
